Growing Atlantic Canada’s Clean Technology Firms

February 1, 2018

A new research report from APEC, “Growing Atlantic Canada’s Clean Technology Firms,” examines Atlantic Canada’s clean technology firms and what policies would best facilitate their growth.

“De-risking the adoption of clean technologies developed by Atlantic businesses should be the cornerstone of any initiatives to support Atlantic Canadian clean technology firms,” said David Chaundy, APEC’s Director of Research and lead author for the report.

APEC’s research identified 67 clean technology firms in Atlantic Canada in 2017 that had developed their own commercial technologies. Of these, 57 are pure play firms – solely focused on clean technology – about 6% of the national total.

APEC’s research also finds that clean technology firms need a strong management team to identify the best business model for their technology and a solid business plan that successfully differentiates its solutions in a large and growing market.

Chaundy will be discussing the key findings of this report in an APEC webinar on February 28, 2018. To register please visit the APEC website.
