Nova Scotia has pulled off a rare feat among Canadian provinces – it has released a balanced budget for 2016/2017.  The budget calls for a surplus of $17 million for the coming year. However, a Report Card released by the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council has shown that remaining in a surplus position over the medium term will depend on a positive growth outlook and sound policy decisions, including restraint in public service salaries.
