Last week’s budget from the new government in Newfoundland and Labrador is a profound – and necessary – shift for the province, according to a detailed analysis by the Atlantic Canada Economic Council.  Significant tax increases will be introduced to reduce the projected deficit by roughly half, but the government predicts it will take until 2021/2022 before the budget can be balanced.
