The Aging Workforce in Atlantic Canada

July 31, 2014

The latest APEC Report Card highlights the aging of Atlantic Canada’s workforce. In the 50-plus age cohort, there are now 65,000 more people employed than in 2008, matched by a decline of 52,000 workers aged 15-49 years. These shifts reflect the aging of Atlantic Canada’s workforce, driven by the large cohort of baby boomers, along with higher labour market participation rates of older workers.
