Major Projects Inventory 2004: What's Next on the Drawing Board for Atlantic Canada?

May 1, 2004

Vol. 39, No. 1, Spring 2004
The 21st edition of APEC’s Major Projects Inventory identifies 272 projects in various stages of development across Atlantic Canada. These projects are valued at $47.3 billion, up 4% over last year’s Inventory. Projects are ranked according to their likelihood of being developed. The estimated value of investment spending in 2004 for projects identified as having a “high” or “medium-high” probability is up 12% over last year. Project activity is especially strong in New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador. However, estimated investment from mid-2006 to mid-2008 suggests a significant weakness is looming. A major new discovery is needed soon to revive momentum in the East Coast offshore.
