The region’s labour challenge is driven by our aging population, a problem that will stay with us over the next few decades. Employees have more options in their job choices than ever before due to increasing retirements. As a result, employees, rather than employers, have greater bargaining power in the workplace. Employers have to reshape their thinking in regards to labour availability both regionally and nationally. There is no-one-size-fits-all solution to improve labour availbility. The most important solutions for each industry vary due to the nature of their workforce and the specific challenges they are facing.
