APEC’s 14th annual Business Outlook Conference was a huge success with almost 700 people attending the conference, held in each of the four Atlantic provinces during the week of November 3-7, 2008. Delegates greatly appreciated the economic insight and analysis provided by APEC staff as they presented their Atlantic economic forecast for 2009. Many businesses and governments use this information each year as a key input into their own business planning.
This year’s conference focused on the future of the U.S. economy. Keynote speakers, led by Hon. Michael Wilson, Canadian Ambassador to the U.S., shared their own perspective on this topic and what it means for Canada and Atlantic Canada specifically. A panel of industry leaders provided their insights on how the U.S. slowdown is affecting their sectors, what they see in terms of the future strength of the U.S. economy and how they are adjusting their corporate strategies to position their companies for long-term growth.
