APEC Major Projects 2022

May 31, 2022 - June 9, 2022

Our Major Projects event has become a must-attend for leaders seeking a competitive edge in planning, forecasting, and project leads. Our analysis draws upon details of the nearly 500 projects that have the potential to shape the region and drive economic development. This year’s webinar series will feature presentations by APEC and leaders from the construction community.

APEC’s Major Projects Inventory (MPI) is an exclusive source of detailed business intelligence on Atlantic Canada’s largest investment projects, available only to APEC members. The MPI is updated annually through a combination of research and interviews with the proponents behind the region’s largest development projects. Members get access to the full MPI. All attendees benefit from our analysis on the key findings from this year’s MPI. Become a member of APEC to get full access to the MPI and a member discount for this event.

Bottlenecks in Construction: How Do We Break Through?

Major project activity is strong, and the construction sector is busy, but several factors are impacting productivity.  This includes the pandemic, supply chain issues and labour availability. What can we do to accelerate the pace of construction and improve the productivity of the sector?

The pandemic is (hopefully) winding down, but the latest Omicron wave caused significant delays on projects due to worker availability.  Labour availability is also being impacted by the mobile nature of the workforce and an aging population. Supply chain issues are a serious problem as material deliveries are unpredictable causing a cascading effect on planning and productivity.

How does the sector break though these bottlenecks?  Our industry panel will discuss possible solutions including:

  • worker retention strategies
  • developing the underrepresented workforce
  • technology solutions
  • diversification of supply chains
