Atlantic Canada’s independent voice on economic issues

AGM Event: The Looming Provincial Fiscal Cliff: What's the Fix for Atlantic Canada?

September 9, 2014 - September 25, 2014

Provincial debt levels are increasing in Atlantic Canada with the weak economy and aging demographics colliding to slow revenue growth and create new spending pressures. Do we now face an unprecedented fiscal cliff, particularly in the Maritime provinces as interest rates rise and revenues remain weak?

What's the fix for Atlantic Canada? Join APEC for a stimulating dialogue with three individuals who have been in the thick of the action within their respective provincial governments:

Hon. Wes Sheridan (Minister of Finance, PEI)

Peter Mesheau (former Minister of Finance, NB)

Graham Steele, (former Minister of Finance, NS)

The dialogue will explore their views on what lies ahead for the economy of the region, the pressures of trying to balance interests at the cabinet table and what provinces individually and collectively need to do to fix this challenge.

Please note that this event is closed to the media.

This is a member-only event and there is no charge for APEC members.
