Atlantic Canada’s independent voice on economic issues

July 14 - Surviving the Economic Recovery

Download Presentation

The first wave of COVID-19 is behind us, but the Atlantic economy has taken a huge hit and will take time to recover. While provinces are easing restrictions and reopening their economies, current health requirements make it challenging for some firms to remain viable. Travel and recovery in key export markets is also being hampered as several countries struggle to contain the spread of COVID-19.

On Tuesday, July 14, APEC hosted our 4th webinar on the economic effects of COVID-19 on Atlantic Canada. This session focussed on the recovery and how we create a sustainable path forward. Key topics included:

  • Where are we on the road to economic recovery?
  • Which Atlantic sectors will lead and which will lag the recovery?
  • Who has been most impacted and how do we help vulnerable populations in the recovery?
  • Can our economy survive the current health restrictions, or do we need a different approach?
  • As we move from crisis response to recovery, what key issues and trends do businesses need to pay attention to?
