Research Assistant:
2 Summer Positions (remote work opportunities)


The Atlantic Provinces Economic Council (APEC) is Atlantic Canada’s leading independent economic research organization. We are at the forefront of analyzing the most important issues for Atlantic Canada’s economy – from demographics to labour shortages, digitalization to global value chains, and the environment to inclusive growth. All recent publications, webinars and presentations are available on our website.

Early-career researchers and economists contribute immensely to our work. APEC has been providing employment opportunities and training to junior economists and summer students for many years. These individuals often continue to successful careers in the private sector and government. We are particularly proud of our record in training economists for employment in provincial and federal governments.

These positions are remote work only. The chosen candidate must have access to a reliable personal computer, internet, and the ability to videoconference via Zoom or Teams. 

Responsibilities
Assist senior staff with economic research, including data collection, analysis and report writing

Qualifications

·        Strong Excel background and data skills

·        Excellent writing skills

·        Well-organized

·        Experience conducting research and knowledge of the Atlantic Canadian economy are assets

Eligibility

  • Current university student entering graduate economics program or third/fourth year of an undergraduate economics program
  • Full-time student returning to university in the fall
  • Permanent resident of Nova Scotia or resident of Nova Scotia for at least six months prior to the work term
     

Duration
35 hours per week for 12-14 weeks, starting May 15

Wage rate
$20/hour
