Major Projects Researcher - Contract Position

Overview

APEC is the source for independent research, insights and ideas vital to supporting a healthy, inclusive and sustainable Atlantic Canadian economy.  

APEC’s Major Projects Inventory is a project database of the major capital investment activities across Atlantic Canada. The Major Projects Researcher reports to the Director of Major Projects.

Responsibilities

• This position involves the collection of primary data and information from companies and government departments across Atlantic Canada for the Inventory
• The position requires calls and emails to project proponents, as well as online research to identify the information
• This is an excellent opportunity to develop experience in applied research in a business setting and gain insight into the key industries driving the Atlantic economy
• There may also be an opportunity to support other ongoing research projects at APEC

Qualifications

• previous research experience in a business setting
• a bachelors or graduate degree in business or economics
  (other backgrounds will be considered if the candidate has research experience)
• excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• a strong Excel background and experience maintaining databases
• effective organizational skills
• a strong understanding of the Atlantic Canadian economy
• solid writing skills and the ability to synthesise complex information
• an understanding of the construction sector would be an asset
• Must be eligible to work in Canada. APEC considers you eligible to work in Canada if you are:
  a Canadian citizen, or a permanent resident of Canada, or hold current and valid authorization (i.e., a work permit) to engage in employment

This is a remote-working opportunity. The candidate must have access to a reliable personal computer, internet, and the ability to videoconference via Zoom.

Duration
The position is for a length of 14 weeks (30-35 hours per week) starting February 8^th, 2021.

Compensation
$21-25/hour depending on qualifications

Economic Researcher - Contract Position

Overview

APEC is the source for independent research, insights and ideas vital to supporting a healthy, inclusive and sustainable Atlantic Canadian economy.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical research experience with a respected regional research organization focused on key economic topics facing Atlantic Canada.

Responsibilities
Economic research including data collection, literature review, analysis and report writing.

Qualifications

• recent university graduate from a masters or undergraduate economics program.
• previous research experience
• strong Excel background
• excellent writing skills
• well-organized
• knowledge of the Atlantic Canadian economy is an asset
• Experience analysing survey data and using tools such as Survey Monkey would be an asset
• Must be eligible to work in Canada. APEC considers you eligible to work in Canada if you are:
  a Canadian citizen, or a permanent resident of Canada, or hold current and valid authorization (i.e., a work permit) to engage in employment

This is a remote-working opportunity. The candidate must have access to a reliable personal computer, internet, and the ability to videoconference via Zoom. 

Duration
The position is for at least 12 weeks (35 hours per week) starting February 8th.

Compensation
$21-25/hour depending on qualifications
