AGM & Annual Report

Date: September 27, 2018

APEC released its Annual Report at its Annual General Meeting (AGM), in Dieppe, New Brunswick on September 2, 2018. The report is now available online in English and French. It summarizes APEC's activities over the last year, highlighting:

  • APEC's provision of economic and business intelligence to help Atlantic organizations prepare their own business plans and find new opportunities;
  • APEC's policy analysis and ideas on topics such as the renegotiation of NAFTA, minimum wages, carbon pricing and clean growth;
  • APEC's dialogue and engagement with academics, businesses and policy makers
  • APEC's increased use of new media and technology; and
  • APEC's outreach and partnerships to help leverage its work.

APEC’s role in bringing together leaders to discuss and hear from experts on key topics was exemplified by APEC's AGM Dinner featuring Bank of Canada Governor Stephen S. Poloz. In his remarks (which were also webcast), Governor Poloz highlighted the wide-ranging implications of disruptive new technologies. This topic will be further discussed at APEC's annual business Outlook conference this November (early-bird pricing available until Oct.12).

These activities would not be possible without the ongoing support of our members, which we truly appreciate. For those of you who are not-members, we encourage you to join APEC to help maintain our independent voice for Atlantic Canada, and to enable us to do more to move this region forward though our analysis, insights, ideas and engagement with business and policy leaders. You can become a member online at www.apec-econ.ca/membership or contact membership@apec-econ.ca to learn more about the benefits of APEC membership.
