Overview: This position requires the collection of primary research from companies and government departments across Atlantic Canada for APEC’s Major Projects Inventory, a project-by-project inventory of the major investment activity ongoing and proposed for Atlantic Canada. The position requires online research, as well as calls to project proponents to obtain the necessary information.  

This is a superb opportunity to develop experience in applied economics in a business setting, and gain insight into the industrial structure of the Atlantic economy. There may also be an opportunity to support other ongoing research projects at APEC.

Qualifications – the applicant should have:

  • a bachelor’s or graduate degree in business or economics (other backgrounds will be considered if the candidate has strong research experience)
  • previous research experience in a business setting
  • a strong Excel background and experience maintaining databases
  • extremely strong organizational skills
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • a strong understanding of the Atlantic Canadian economy
  • solid writing skills and the ability to synthesise complex information
  • a background conducting primary research is a definite asset

Duration: The position is for a length of 16 weeks (35 hours per week) starting February 12th.

Compensation: $20-25/hour depending on qualifications
