A key aspect of APEC’s activities is its frequent engagement with regional stakeholders in government, business, education and community groups as well as with key stakeholders, policy experts and other groups outside the region. These varied activities include bringing together the region’s stakeholders to discuss important economic issues facing Atlantic Canada at APEC’s annual Outlook conferences and policy events; hosting regional consultations on behalf of federal and provincial governments, expert panels and taskforces; conducting interviews with individual stakeholders and facilitating discussions with small groups of stakeholders; and meeting with and making presentations to various stakeholder groups and government committees. This interaction with stakeholders helps to: inform APEC’s research; provide forums to share and discuss our research findings; create a common fact-based frame of reference for discussing regional economic challenges and opportunities; promote dialogue between stakeholders and shape a vision for a better future for Atlantic Canada.
