APEC plays a unique role in the Atlantic region as a knowledge broker, using its foundation of research to bring together the key stakeholders in government, the private sector, institutions, organized labour and the community at large, on issues and challenges facing Atlantic Canada. Over this past year, we have released reports and hosted conferences on a diverse range of topics such as competitiveness, the future of the forest industries, transportation and trade, regional integration, outmigration and literacy.
Our work has taken us into the policy arena to meet with Premiers, members of Cabinet and senior government officials, to offer our expertise and provide input on a range of topics. On each occasion, we have sought to bring a balanced and respectful approach to the topic and to the recommendations we make.
